I had to transfer my girls to a different school mid-year and they
were struggling with the curriculum at the new school.
I tried to "tutor" them myself and spent a fortune on educational
materials. Needless to say it was a dismal failure.
I found Jessica and within a few weeks of her working with my
children they were both catching up and exceeding their teachers
expectations. We went from tears to smiles and proud kids and an
even prouder Mom.
Jessica is very patient with her students. She has a wonderful
ability to connect to children on a level a parent is not able to (I
tried, it does NOT work).
I plan on using New Hope Tutoring for the rest of my children's
education experience.

It is my honor and pleasure to recommend Jessica Pride for the 2011 Outstanding
Graduating Senior Award. I have known Jessica since 2008 when she took my art education
course, Art 380 Children Art. In class, Jessica was an outstanding student and I still use her art
portfolio as an example for other students to follow.
Since then, Jessica has continued her academic studies through many personal and
financial challenges, and has overcome them, to graduate magna cum laude from CSUN this
semester. I am very proud of her diligence and courage to face life’s difficulties.
In addition to all her academic work, Jessica has found time to help others through her
work with the EOP math tutoring program and her past volunteer work with Alliance Against
Family Violence and Sexual Assault in Bakersfield.
I want to add that Jessica exhibits the personal and academic traits that we want to
cultivate and encourage here at California State University, Northridge. She is, first and foremost,
a strong and caring individual, who is dedicated to learning and reflects empathy and compassion
for others in need. I have always been impressed by Jessica’s commitment to succeed, but also by
her caring nature. You could not have a better and more deserving candidate for the Outstanding
Graduating Senior Award then Jessica Pride.
